Hi Erin,
So glad you enjoyed, they taste great with any sweetener really, I have done honey as well. I also just picked up some date syrup while in the states and can't wait to try that! I change the ingredients all the time, use oat flakes, dates, carob, hemp seeds - anything goes really! I would love to try your coconut ice cream recipe ...please send!

Thank you Marni, these were yummy! I'm out of maple syrup, so I used half brown rice syrup and half agave, and it worked. I would definitely make these again and play around with the ingredients for variety. Let me know if you want my chocolate coconut ice cream recipe (although, you can probably figure that one out, if you haven't already!).

Are the oats you are buying from costco organic? this really makes a difference in the quality of the oats, if nothing else is listed in the ingredients then nothing should be there.

In this particular recipe - steel cut oats wouldn't work - they would be too tough. However steel cut oats are amazing for breakfast! Quinoa flakes work great in this recipe as would rolled oats.
I hope this helps!

i love it!! and my family loves it too!

Quick Question:

I can't wrap my finger on "old-fashioned quaker oats." I buy the costco 4.5lb box b/c it's cheaper than steel cut oats, especially in bulk. In the ingredients, it lists only the oats so hopefully no preservatives, hfcs, etc. But is it healthy? Or, is there something bad I don't know. If not, i'll invest in some quinoa flakes or steel cut oats. I eat oatmeal every morning!

Thanks! =)

And way better than donut holes IMHO!I found you on the foodieblogroll and thought i'd say hello, but after reading your cool posts here I'd love to bring over our readers to your site, just add this little foodista widget to this post and it's all set to go, Thanks!
