So here I am in the village - and I have to say that I am actually somewhat impressed. The small grocery store and IGA have quite a bit of organics, from almond milk to gluten free cereal and granola (since my container of homemade granola broke on the way here:( + lots of other goodies. So I am more than well stocked for the week.

Samantha - that always good depending on where you are going. I like to check out www.happycow.com to find local resources for health food stores and restaurants.

I too will use this post when packing 'supplies' for my next trip. When we were on our last vacation I took a small bag of raw almonds, goji berries, cacao nibs and pumpkin seeds to snack on and made sure to get some fresh fruit goodness from the local market/grocery store. I also take tea bags, vega bars, spirulina tablets, larabars and the must have dark chocolate!!

I would love to see the athletes promoting some superfoods or wholefoods...any foods except the unmentionable foods.chains :)!!

Have a safe trip and a super time!!!

I usually pack light, so food doesn't make my list (besides a few healthy snacks for the road). But I do always find a local grocery store or market once I get to my destination so that I can buy everything I need when I get there.
My husband and I honeymooned in Europe for 3 weeks and only ate at about 5 restaurants-- it was markets all the way other than that!

my list is similar, but everything is in HUGE amounts to cover my family of 5...and needing to be nut-fee, we take Sunbutter, organic dried fruit by Made in Nature, Sha Sha breads and lots of treats (fave are the Spirulina Banana Go Raw cookies for travel)!
And yes, those athletes should be drinking coconut water, not electric coloured power drinks...did you see Christine Nesbitt when she won gold in short track? Grabbed her Klean Kanteen to skate her victory lap! No plastic bottles of water for her!
Have fun and travel safely Marni!

Great job Marni! I love all the ideas you have in your bag of tricks! I am going to steal a few for my next vacation. I always plan and pack for the kids, now I will have some good ideas for myself too. I always pack fresh fruit, chopped apples, fresh berries etc to take on the airplane rides even though you aren't supposed to. I would rather have to throw it out at the gates, and take my chances. We have always been able to enjoy a fresh snack on the plane rides!
Have a great trip.
