Wow!! I bought a house last summer and we didn't have time to put any gardens in but I might this year. I really want to grow some veggies and herbs. I'm overwhelmed with the thought of starting, though, because the gardens don't even exist yet.

Lauren, your yield from last year sounded amazing! It is always fun to see growth in your own backyard, and yes the next best thing is getting your food from a local CSA!

Thanks for sharing!!

Marni,

Jeffrey just tilled our garden this weekend, and this sunday we plan to mix in our compost and start planting. Last year we grew: cilantro, basil, lettuce, fennel, peas, cucumber, eggplant, 4 types of heirloom tomatoes and cherry tomatoes, all around our pluot (plum+ apricot) tree. This year we plan do do all our veggies for pizza again, and maybe try something new...I am hoping to plant a peach tree!
Emmy loves to pick cherry tomatoes and eat them straight off the tree!

Our lettuce came up again this year, but we never picked it, so we just ended up cutting down what looked like lettuce Christmas trees!

I just read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and am very inspired to grow all our produce...wish i had more time. Out CSA will have to do for now!

Hope all is well. Good luck with your gardening. Can't wait to hear more.

(And Mazel tov on your good news!)

best wishes,
Lauren, Jeff and Emanuelle Stern
